"Here there's only air...
And just enough space to fit..."
Just Watch the Fireworks - Jimmy Eat World
Listen here.
Rather than venture out and fight the crowds, we elected to remain at home today.
We enjoyed hot dogs, potato chips, and slices of watermelon for lunch. At dinnertime, Mici fried some hamburgers.
This evening, after helping our neighbors attack some weeds on the hillside in their back yard, we ate some ice cream and enjoyed quite a fireworks show, courtesy of our neighbors. Fireworks were going up all around us, in every direction. The air, filled with the scent of sulfur, was pleasantly cool and offered a slight breeze...just enough to lull Buggy Bug to sleep while I captured a few long exposure shots of the fireworks.
Afterward, Mici, Critter, and I watched the movie "1776" on TCM. Blythe Danner was a knockout! I can certainly see where Gwenneth gets her beauty.

This is the one!
Mici, outside of the Legare model offered by Beazer Homes. This model was in Bolton's Landing in the West Ashley area of Charleston; however, after reviewing the crime and schools in West Ashley, we've decided that we're likely going to build this home in Reminisce, a neighborhood in Summerville. Sure, the commute from Summerville will be a bit longer than it would have been from West Ashley, but it'll be worth it.
This home has that classic Charleston single-home architecture that we've come to love (typical Lowcountry features like 9' ceilings, high baseboards, crown molding, double porches with outdoor ceiling fans, breezeways, and detached two-car garages), combined with all of the modern features and options available in new construction...not to mention a very smart use of space and traffic flow throughout the home.
Check out the floor plan and take a virtual tour and you'll see why we were impressed!

Only in the Lowcountry...
...can one order Shrimp and Grits for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. I had this and a Sweet Potato Biscuit (and a pancake on the side) for breakfast at Charleston's Café in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina - July 1, 2009.
I understand why the scallions, cheese, and bacon were set off to the side - not everybody likes them; however, it would have been more visually pleasing had they just been sprinkled in the center over the tomato cream sauce. This didn't stop me from eating it though...it was all good. As my mamma used to say, "Damnit, Eric, eat it! It all goes down the same hole!" (unless, of course, you get it stuck in your wind pipe)
