Gadgets Getting Intimate: "Turn On"

Gadgets Getting Intimate: "Turn On" by Rentahamster.
Belkin Digital Camera Link: "Do you like it when I scroll your sensitive touch pad?"

iPod:: "Mmmm, yeah baby play with my settings, woo!"

Belkin DCL: "Do you like it when I click your 'menu' button? How about your 'fast forward' button? Time to take you out of 'sleep mode' and turn you on!"

iPod: "Yeah baby, stick your big dock into my eager firewire port and click my big round shiny 'select' button!"

Belkin DCL: Okay.

This little skit brought to you by the iPod and the Belkin Digital Camera Link. The Belkin DCL is a handy device that lets you transfer all the files of your digital camera or other USB compliant device onto an iPod. Normally this costs about $80, but with my clever negotiation skills, I was able to purchase it for $30. Read all about it on my blog.

I will use this device during my trip to Japan so that I don't have to blow more money on Sony's friggin' expensive proprietary Memory Stick Pro Duo.

I shouldn't have posted this one so early. My set isn't completed yet. This shot doesn't work without the description that I didn't write yet and the other photos that I didn't upload yet.

That "Belkin thingy" is the "Belkin Digital Camera Link" that allows you to hook up your iPod to USB compliant devices (e.g. cameras) and transfer data.

I like the fact that this shows a U2 Ipod, it makes some very good points about the gadget sex industry and how it screws with the lives of innocent electronic devices in development labs. That makes me very, very mad. Or sad. Both, actually.

How does that Belkin fucker relate to Apple's own Camera Connector (which is just $25). I'm about to join the herd and am pondering options.

Apple's camera connector is also fairly good, I hear, but only if you have an iPod Photo. The camera connector won't work on any other iPod.

It works with the iPod file structure and software so that you will be able to view your pics on the iPod Photo after you upload them. The problem with the Belkin device is that it stores your pics in a folder that the iPod Photo does not recognize, and therefore you can't view your photos with your iPod. You have to download them off the iPod, into your computer, process the photos with iTunes or iPhoto or whatever program it is, and then upload the pics back onto the iPod.

I don't have an iPod photo, so the choice was clear. Also, I remember reading that the Apple Camera connector was only USB 1.1 compliant, so the transfer rates are relatively slow. I'm not positive, though.
