Tosca, cannoli and coffee

I love how the shading came out on the cherry. Used red and blood red/dark magenta paint.

Love drawing the bubbles. No clue if they were really there but they are pretty. LOL

Italian Canelloni :)

Spent the day out and the journal entry is pretty self-explanatory. hehe Started sketching the cup before our food arrived, continued halfway through the cannoli and finished the sketch after the fact at Starbuck's of all places. LOL Travelling art? hehe

I started painting last night (the chocolate and the cherry) and finished the rest of the inking and painting today. I adore my little Winsor & Newton travel box. This was done with 5 colors and I made the light shades and the background by drenching the paint on and blotting it with a piece of toilet paper. LOL Trust me, view large. :)

...and no, I didn't end up with coffee again at Starbuck's after the four cups of LaVazza at Tosca. hehe Had a Jones Root Beer and a water. :)

Mechanical .5mm pencil. Staedtler Pigment Liners. Windsor Newton watercolors. Caffeine.

I am about halfway through my Moleskine Reporter now and Val just bought me a large Moleskine sketchbook. WOOT Feed the addiction! hehe

The cannoli was a huge challenge. hehe Wanted a little of the texture to it but drawing more defined shapes, like the holes in the dough, etc would have been too harsh. I wanted the cherry and the chocolate to be more of the focus. I LOVE cannoli, this one was sooo good. hehe

Thinking of going out today despite the rain. Hmmm, Japanese or Italian? hehe

Thank you all for your kind words. Of the colors in my watercolor kit I only use about four so it is a matter of mixing and experiemtnation every time. I don't really have formulas per se, just feelings.

Mel - Thank you. :) You can sketch the same way, just practice is all it takes. Break everything down into geometric shapes like I do. I swear by my mechanical pencils. hehe I sketch how I feel, not necessarily trying to capture what I see in front of me. Moleskines are addictive, never thought I would say that but they are. I love my Moleskine Reporter and the others I've gotten since.
