Jupiter Rises over Half Dome - Yosemite National Park

Jupiter Rises over Half Dome - Yosemite National Park

[Best viewed large on black. Press L.]

From Glacier Point, on a beautifully clear night under a full moon. If you look closely you will see a bright light on the face of Half Dome. Those are climbers. I have been told it takes about five days to reach the summit and they are camping over night.

I would have stayed longer but the temperature was getting close to the freezing point and Glacier Point Road had only been re-opened that day after the first snow storm of the season. So, I hurried back to my car just after this shot as there was still a lot of water and snow slush on the road. I made it back down safely despite the summer tires on my rental car.

This was my first long exposure with the S95 and I really wished it supported exposures longer than 15s avoiding the need to crank up the ISO. JPEG straight off the camera.
