Er... what? Do I detect some failed attempt at humour?

Also, what's high-tech about the new cars?

The new cars have LED-based train information (time, next stop, line, etc), as well as a nice recorded voice with stop information.

The major problems with this sign are:

1) In the two years I've been riding the subway, these "new" cars have been around, and I've only just now seen one of these signs. The statute of limitations on the word "new" must be less than two years.
2) Anyone who's ever rode the NYC subway will immediately realize this when they get on said new high-tech car; there's no need for a sign to inform them.

So you mean that not only did it take them two years to put up the signs, but it also took them two years to come up with such a bad joke?

Congratulations. :P

Random fact: the automatic voice on the London Underground is called "Sonya". This being because after a while she "getS ON YA nerves". Honest!

maybe it's a new new car? like version x.12 where it was x.11 before.

not to say that makes it any less retarded at this point.

I actually saw this sign on a run-down A train a couple of weeks ago. Darn camera-less phone!

I saw this sign, too... as I was riding on the most ancient of F trains. I'll see one of those high-tech trains on my line right about the time my yet to-be born child's yet-to-be-born child graduates from college. Or even longer.

Not that I'm cynical or anything.

we're going to talk to them, but because we are the MTA, they won't understand what we're saying.

I also saw one in an ancient subway car. I nearly died of laughter.
