Thank you! You were mighty quick to comment, so I thought I'd mention that I've updated all of the photo descriptions now. :)

And the shots will certainly keep coming... this is FUN!

Thank you! You've got to get one of these little babies... They're adorable! (I'd be happy for you to have a play with my Ensign first though.)

Wow - looks brilliant. Nice job on the restoration, too. I'd never have thought it would clean up enough to be useable, let alone that well.

@Loulou H: Thank you! I've been snapping away ever since!

@drewm: I was really not sure I could fix the viewfinder, and in fact, when Neil saw the 'before' condition he immediately said that I may as well sell it off. That was before a single photo through it! It's squeaky clean now and you and Rachel must try it.

@cedar_9: Thank you!

@Moochin Photoman: Thank you! I will post a photo of the contraption. It's ugly and not very clever, but it's letting me have some fun today. :)

@regularjen: so are you focussing on the surface of the viewfinder itself? (Can't quite get my head around the physics of the focal length!)

Edit: oh, and we might just have to take you up on that offer!

@drewm: it's weird, this TtV thing... you are focussing on the item being photographed. You'd think it wouldn't work, but it does. I have tried both autofocus and manual (which requires you stepping forward or back from the subject since you can't dial in your lens) and both work a peach. You should check this guy out (he's got tutorials and explanations of all kinds of TtV stuff): www.russmorris.com/ttv/

I find that the bubble viewfinder has got its own DOF, I didn't realise this until I made my first trap and made the length of it from focussing on a distant object. and then had to hand hold the camera further away to get a close up.

Perhaps someone who knows about optics would explain.

Thats a great pic Jen I've got a 1939 Ful-View as well I like the perspective I think the lens is about 110mm whereas the Duaflex is about 70mm.

Thank you JimRead! I was so pleased with my first shot. I thought this would all be more difficult, but turns out TtV is easy and gorgeous! I'm totally hooked. Interesting about the lens diameters; thank you for the info. Now I'm off to see your photos! :)
