A peek at the Appellate Court

    Newer Older

This beautiful building is the First Department of New York's Appellate Court. Adjacent to lovely Madison Square Park, it dates to the turn of the 20th century and was designed by architect James Brown Lord.
You can read NYC's official word on the building at this website, or alternately some interesting musings on Statues and Civic Memory.

Thank you! I have another version of this shot with less foreground and more background, but decided I liked this one better. :)

lovely intimate kind of framing makes this large imposing building a more human scale. great long depth. Shame bout the overblown bit, that happenes to me all the time. I dunno enought to be able to suggest what you could do really. crop it? then would the proportions still be good? Dunno
have a good weekend in Brooklynn :=)
