Eastern Grey Kangaroo Mother & Joey

Eastern Grey Kangaroo Mother & Joey by Lisa Bettany {Mostly Lisa}.
I saw this lil joey come for a drink in mama roo's pouch, so I quietly crouched down really close, because I was using my 50mm lens. After about 5 mins he poked his head out for a few seconds when I snapped this shot, then darted back in for more yummy roo milk.

Can't believe you took all those animal shots with the 50mm, sounds like you are pretty good with your ninja skills, I know who to call when I need someone to break into the banks at night :-p

@cl191 -- it's definitely a huge challenge shooting wildlife with a 50mm, but it's the only lens I have, so I've gotta make it work. I'm trying to find a camera store that rents lenses here so I can get some better shots.

Nice one!

I love the challenge of the 50mm. It lives on my camera and I think it helps develop your framing skills and mindset for shooting.

Very nice shot. Are kangaroos not that skittish? I imagine you had to be very close to get that shot.

Whenever I use my 50mm lens it feels like I'm using a whole different kind of camera. It really feels like my camera becomes a different kind of tool, like switching from water color painting to oil painting.

@Shutta... David -- Aussie Zoo, Surfer's, Burleigh Heads, Brisbane, maybe Sydney.

@jsrcyclist -- thanks! was challenging, but so cool to shoot these animals up close.

@kristar3lla -- totally. it is my main lens so most of my composition has been developed through using the 50mm.

@jcollin3k -- the kangas weren't skitterish at all. just sleepy, but very friendly. Watch my video of me petting the kangaroos and see how lovely and tame they are. the emu, not so much.
