Jay McInnes: Realtor Headshot
5DMKII, 85mm f/1.8, 580EX shot through umbrella.
Using a really simple set up here. Just a 580EX shot through a large umbrella about 2ft from Jay's face. I triggered with the Alien Bee's Cyber Syncs.
If you don't have a strobe, you can achieve a similar effect using a white bounce or foam core board that you can pick up in any craft store for $2. Just reflect the lightsource evenly on the subject's face.
The 85mm is great for portraits using a full frame camera. The 50mm f/1.4 is great on a cropped sensor. I like to shoot really close to my subjects so I can easily direct them and encourage a smile or two :P

Sassy Jolie!
5DMKII, 16-35, 1/50 @f/5.0, ISO 2000.
I grabbed a few shots of the fabulous Jolie O'Dell before we lost the natural light :) Natural light is always better than on-camera flash.
