Actor type headshot of Katherine. Nice soft light coming from a shoot through umbrella camera left really close to her face (about 20cm/8 inches). Silver light disc bouncing light from umbrella camera right.

I wanted kind of an ethereal & soft feel to this shot, so I experimented a bit more with backlighting with the sun & bouncing light from two large white poster boards taped together. I also processed it a lot with gradients, filters, and blending modes n' stuff.

Another shot from my heashot shoot in the rain with Siri.
I had picked 3 different locations for my shoot with Siri, but my plans were foiled by a summer rainstorm. The light was quickly disappearing and there was only one covered spot in my location, so I had to make one kinda dull grey metallic background work for two different looks.
The only thing I could do was change the lighting. In this shot, I just used one strobe (580EX) shot through an umbrella really close to her face to create a nice soft, even light. I took away the second hair light strobe and used a really shallow DOF to make her hair almost disappear into the background. I wanted to the shot to be about her face and her eyes and her gorgeous skin.
I also love Siri's expression in this. She was so easy to direct and followed my strange direction cues really well. i think I told her to look mysterious, yet sexy, but secretive. Yeah... Not the best direction in the world, but she made it work :D
