the plastic strip yarn is called "plarn"
most how-to I have seens says to cut the bag in strips across but that way you have to tie sooo many knots. It is quicker but...not as neat.
Cut off the handles & start cutting at an angle until it is about an inch wide then continue cutting in a spiral until done - roll it into a ball & keep cutting to diminish your plastic bag stash
OR
make a plastic latched rug
cut in strips how most say (forming loops you then cut open & then tie all the ends)
then cut in 4" or so pieces- buy a mesh mat that is meant for latchhooking rugs & turn the 4" pieces into a nice fluffy rug
