I created a desktop background for my computer from an image i discovered on ffffound. I tried to find the original source/photo/movie that it is from... no luck. If anyone knows what this is from, please do tell!
copy is from wikipedia's space entry

Wow! How did you work that magic and find it?
I am honestly impressed! I have no idea what that says... but sweet.So... it was the first female spaceman/spacewoman?

I don't think this is her.

If the question is "is this Valentina Tereshkova?" and is to take at 1st degree, well, the wiki may have changed since then, but make yourself an opinion : en.rian.ru/photolents/20070306/61614026_15.html ("First woman in space Valentina Tereshkova is 70") ;)
So, I don't only think this spacewoman is not V. Tereshkova, I'm actually pretty SURE she's not. In fact I think your initial guess, Lobster, was right: it looks very much as a stock or movie oriented shot. You'll find many staged shots of actual spacewomen at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Female_astronauts , and this one is obviously unrelated in form or in context.
