SPA-Viberti AS.42 Sahariana with Solothurn S-18/1000

The Sahariana was on my to do list for quite a few years now and well here is my Sahariana finally in full glory!

I'm really happy with the overall out come, was a good challenge in the overall as this one was not easy to work out. Also been way too long since I did a proper WWII vehicles, so I hope it was worth the wait!

In the overall this is probably one of Italy's finer gems that was produced during the war, this was produced very much in the mind to be Italy's counterpart to the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG). Only shame it came kinda late to the party in late 1942.

The biggest stand out is its exceptional range. The main fuel tank of 145 l allows a range of 300 km (186 mi), pushed to 1200 km (750 mi) with the 400 l of additional jerrycans strapped to the sides.

This version is armed with a Solothurn S-18/1000 anti-tank rifle and a Breda M37 (stand in is currently a hotchkiss machine gun) Other armament was the 20 mm Breda model 35 gun and the 47 mm Breda 47/32 gun.

Also for anybody wondering what the brown above the spare tire is, that is the windshield. What I have seen in model-kits and in a few photo's. They would cover the windshield up at times with canvas, to remove the reflection of the glass and would only leave open a small slit much like in a tank. Just to remove any chance of being spotted by it reflecting. Well that is my conclusion on it, but seeing as this a recon vehicle. I'm pretty sure this is the reason as I don't see another :p

Biggest inaccuracy is the amount of jerrycans that my AS.42 version is carrying. As mine is carrying 14 as the real carried 24, which of 20 where for fuel and the other 4 where for water. But I can life with that :)

So what do you guys say?
