once in a blue moon..

ok.. to celebrate the fact that my photostream just passed 5 million views, i felt something particularly difficult and unwise was in order..
taken at 2:45 this morning (sunday june 15th) , while normal people were out partying, or just sleeping..

(i collected those rocks months ago btw, brought them home, sprayed them blue, and then had no idea what i was going to use them for, until now.. did i ever mention i'm a little bit weird?)

those real rocks which you really did painstakingly collect and carry home, which you then really did paint blue, and then let lie around for inspiration to strike, and then painstakingly carried at mid of night to shoreline and made this arrangement

those real rocks are interesting to me

because it would have been comparatively simple in PS to 'colour' rocks blue

so those rocks say to me that the long and hard route is often best

hope your hands and arms feel the same (or your assistant's!)

@sonewfangled: no, actually, i don't see what you mean. the satisfaction of having achieved an image i saw in my head, and doing it the hard way, is in no way lessened because i posted the result on flickr..

and the water was very cold. didn't have a thermometer, but its a temperature that you would almost certainly get hypothermia and die in , after a prolonged stay..

@kayodeok: the bit about rock collecting was no joke, i really did gather them months ago, take them home, move them to the garage, spray paint them (took a while to do both sides of 50 or so rocks) and then i finally figured out what sortof picture i wanted to use them for just a few days ago..
