Bloody river

Bloody river

Of course, it is not blood... I am not sure exactly what these are, but I guess it is a sort of saltern... I always see this when the plane approach SFO, and first time took it right..

This is Mono lake, right east of Yosemite. This picture was taken when I flew from SFO to BOS.

Summer Milkyway

Summer Milkyway

This picture was taken at a camp site in New Hampshire. Weather was not that great, but just lucky enough to take this shot. Used motor driven equatorial mounting to follow stars.

M31 Andromeda (16 sec x 199)

M31 Andromeda (16 sec x 199)

This is my forth Andromeda. This time, I finally started to use special software to stack many photos in 16 bit format. Therefore, I finally started to stack good enough numbers of photos to make this shot. I took about 800 shots and deleted 600 of failed shots (vibration), and stacked all the good ones.

Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF 300mm f/4 ED, EM5-D2M equatorial mounting, wood custom, dovetail mount, Bahtinov mask for focusing

Setting: 300mm, f/4, 16 sec x 199 shots (53 min), ISO-800, 12 bit Raw

IRIS software used for: Flat, Dark, align, and stack
