Golden Dunes Early Morning
The sun has just come up and it's that beautiful time where the sun is low enough to cast beautiful long shadows.... Perfect time to be out in the middle of the Stove Pipe Wells Sand dunes in Death Valley. I get a lot of questions about getting dune shots here that don't have footprints and I'll give you a clue: arrive before everybody else and keep walking.

Oceanside Distant Sunset #2
A while back I posted a photo from this amazing sunset. At first I didn't think there would be ANY sunset, but then - probably 5 miles out to see, the sun found a hole in the clouds and a choir of angels came out to sing for a few moments...... It was magical to behold and I hope this captures some of the feeling from this moment in time....

Calm Mount Hood at Dusk
It's almost so dark, I can't see around me. Little bugs are swirling because it's summertime. The ski lift at Timberline is clearly operating and the mountain is calm.... there are 3 or 4 campsites around this lake and all were full with people laughing and singing while I'm standing at the very edge of the walk pier for a while to capture this image. Walked 1.25 miles down thru the forest in pitch black with only my headlight to see by......

Wise Old SoulThe Japanese Maple at the Portland Japanese Gardens from last year. In 1 month, the color should be back - so make your plans to visit the gardens. They are the most beautiful then.
