Timeless under the harsh desert sun

The Monastery is Petra's other great iconic structure and requires a grueling 45 minute hike up a steep path to the top of the Jebel. Not the wisest of activities at midday, luckily we had brought plenty of water.

And then you step out from the narrow canyon and the splendour of the Treasury soars above you standing still, timeless and silent, just as those who stumbled across it must have found it over the centuries since it was abandoned nearly 2 millenia ago. The Gateway to Petra.
