Phat Quarter Swap: The 1970's
Made for Salvaged Mutiny
12"x12"
This piece was inspired by the most 'out of this world' gold records of the 1970's: The golden records aboard each of the voyager spacecraft and David Bowie's Alaiddin Sane. The work of Carl Sagan and David Bowie has been a great inspiration for me over the years so I decided to create a tribute to these swell fellas. I've been wanting to give embroidering on wood board a go and this seemed like an appropriate project because of all the awful wood paneling that was so popular in the 1970s.

I am so thrilled that I own this! David Bowie is my favourite and learning about Carl Sagan is a bonus :-)

This is the purest form of awesome! If you were to make another, but with Paul Stanley's star on his face, you'd have a miraculously quick sale from this fan. Brilliant!

I love it! Can you tell us how you did the embroidery on wood board? I've never seen anyone do that before.

This is amazing! The idea and the design are fab in their own right, but embroidering on woodboard? Amazeballs!

If we'd heard about this 3 years ago, we'd have been interested in including it in the "Sagan's COSMOS: 30 Years On" art show in Ithaca. Very much so.
