Solida State Survivor

Just in case you didn't know, I love medium format, and I love the square. Square MF is really the reason why I'm shooting film in this day and age. The one problem with MF is that they tend to be big. You don't just slip a Hasselblad in your coat pocket or even backpack for casual snaps on your way to school.

But sometimes you do want to be free from the burden of a 67II or Norita or Kiev-6C on your shoulders. You wanna take a stroll with nothing but a coat.

That's where folder cameras come in handy; the problem is, I also like fast lenses and shallow DoF. And in general, folders and fast don't go together.

Except for the select few 6x6 folders that have ƒ2.8 lenses.

This is one of them. The Franka Solida IIIe, with a Schneider-Kreuznach Radionar 80mm ƒ2.9 lens. Ever since finding out about these things, I just really, really, really needed one. Yeah, you. I *needed* one.

After a few months of looking for the right one, I won this baby on Ebay a few days ago. Comes directly from Certo66.com, which is where I found out about this and other f2.8/2.9 6x6 folders in the first place :-)

Anyway, can't wait to go run a film through it. It's actually loaded, so I just need to wait till it stops snowing :-D
