Rands Pixel Rig -- Jan. 2008

Dock on left. No auto hide even though I almost always use the keyboard for app jumping / selection. Dock hide/unhide animation bugs me.
This is the preliminary to do list of items gathered in a single day. It's transcribed into Things at the end of day.
No iChat buddy list? Yes, the buddy list gives me no useful information, so I only keep the chat window up as long as I'm chatting.
Twitter. Always.
I'm back on IRC after a long stint without...
iCal rules my life
This is default morning set-up. Scrubbing mail and surfing the web. The main monitor has a bevy of other states including: Writing, programming, Photoshop, and totally fucking busy.
Two means of gathering information: Safari tab groups and Google Reader
You know I still miss clicky keyboards.
However, I don't miss wired mice for a moment.
External storage for quick system rebuilds.
Underneath here are set of six folders which are the only folders allowed on the desktop. These six folders describe every major project in my life. Desktop clutter keeps me up at night.
Poor man's ergo
Launchbar lives here
Rands Pixel Rig -- Jan. 2008 by rands.
The second, smaller flat panel used to be vertical, but that's not achievable given the presence of a shelf which is not long for this world.

fedallah: It's not Things, it's the "preliminary" list, My guess would be Stickies.

It strikes me that the only reason rands would do that is that Things eats too much pixel budget.

Rands: Have you suggested a slimfast view to cultured? Just trying Things off the back of your recommendation. Might help with my NADD so thanks. (I do have NAS though, or NewAppSyndrome)

The sticky is for random things which might be to dos, but also might not. The idea is to have a visible dumping ground on the desktop where I can quickly park an idea.

Re: Things. I do keep it on a portable next to this machine and, as of recent, have been dumping to dos there rather than the scratch pad.

p.s. Cube speaks FTW.

I've started to be fascinated by the way people set up their dock. I started hiding mine as I find a useful dock means big icons and using Quicksilver means those pixels at the bottom of my 15" PowerBook's display are worth more for work than hardly ever used icons.

What are you using for monitor stands? I've got some ugly boxes that I need to get rid of.

@Simon Pride:

Seconded! I am also going to add this second pointless sentence because typing on the Tactile Pro 2 feels so good.

i also hate desktop clutter, thats why i have an app called "camouflage" when i want to see icons i press a keystroke (selected by me) and when i want the icons gone, i press the keystroke and they dissappear! be sure to check it out
