My first pics of Osprey this year. Not the best shots, as I had my compact telephoto, handholding, and as you will see from the next shot, their nest was incredibly high up on some kind of abandoned grain elevator. I went hoping to get shots of them fishing but instead the pair was busy building their nest. Scroll down to see more.

I just saw my first 2008 osprey a few days ago too.
osprey have a very high "nest fidelity" rate, they will come back to the same nest for years and years if they can. one of our long term nests here blew down in the hurricane this winter, it will be interesting watching them find a new spot.
another interesting thing about them: they won't pick up nesting material from the ground. they will break dead branches out of trees, in flight. It's really great to watch. They add a new layer of fresh sticks to the nest every year, to provide a clean layer for the chicks.
