fotofacade . . . yes, the garage is very dominant in this design, particularly in the way i've photographed it here. are you thinking phallic?

Catskills Grrl . . . at the moment, the house is in terrible condition. livable, but it has been poorly treated for many many years. fortunately it has a new owner interested in bringing it back to life.

thanks Moxette! glad you like it.

there are lots of things about the house that have been goofed up over the years, but mostly the original house is still there, beneath all the wrappings on the exterior and interior surfaces.

The phallic garage says something about the importance of the car in the American consciousness?

Remiss63  Pro User  says:

fotofacade . . . the phallic garage speaks strongly of the architect's fetish for automobiles (Ford, Bentley, Rolls Royce, etc.).

The Armstrongs with their Rolls Royce

having a garage sticking out the front of a house is a statement of functionality as well as pride of ownership, especially in this time and place.

I'm a complete and total pedestrian with no automobile expertise at all. But I can tell this an absolutely splendid automobile.
