S1/S4 at Macarthur

While it is not unusual to see an S-Set at Macarthur, it is rather unusual to see a Mortdale S-Set at Macarthur. While the Mortdale Tangara trains are used on Sector 2 (South, Bankstown, Inner West and East Hills Lines) services, Mortdale S-Set trains are not usually seen operating outside Sector 1 (Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line).

The presence of S1 and S4 at Macarthur would suggest that they have been put into service to replace a failed Tangara set.

Dunno, but there was a Flemo S set at Waterfall the other day, so perhaps there's an exchange scheme in operation? I hope not though, the Flemo sets are much, much worse in almost every respect, compared to the Mortdale (and even Hornsby) ones.

Andrew - I don't think it was a set swap - had a Flemmo S-Set work through the circle the other afternoon on a Waterfall service, due to a set failure, and the spare set had to come out of Mac Town, so it had to go around the circle instead of to and from Bondi. Suspect we might be taking about the same set (I was personally hoping to see a C-Set work the train, but they are in regular service usually).

I agree about the Flemmo sets, I watch them come around days after being out of overhaul, and they smell of fresh paint, the windows are unscratched, and the outsides are pristene. As the days go by, they get the occasional scratched window, then some graffiti on the back of the train, then a little more, and a little more, and it's back to where it started from :(. By contrast when a Hornsby or Mortdale set are fresh out of overhaul, they tend to show it for a little longer!

In order of preference, baes on how many TSR's I had to write, Hornsby MC, Flemo MC then Mortdale. They used to send out utter garbage esp the T sets which consistantly had door failures. They have probably picked up their game now with Traction interlocking
