Marble phallus erected by Karystos at the small Sanctuary of Dionysos about 300 BC;. this huge phallus is emblematic of the orgiastic rites that took place during the Dionysian festivals. Around the base is carved a representation of a bird in the shape of a phallus which represents immortality.
