Green de Ingham Surcote

Am making this after the lost de Ingham brass dated c. 1365 from de Ingham Trinitarian priory in Norfolk. I still need to add pocket slits and tippets, but it's at a wearable stage and I wanted to check the fit over my red first layer.

Stunning. Your beautiful dress has given me ideas of attempting one myself. I have been wearing cotes for going on 9 years, but all have been machine sewn. I have kept the thought in my head of attempting one by hand, but the fear of having seam failure at a least favorable moment has stalled my ambitions each time. Perhaps if I start now, I could have it done by.. ummm, spring crown.. :-)

Redswanne: That's a complicated question. There are particular stitches that are more suited to certain seams and tasks. Have you tried a small hand sewing project already?
