After a Day with Bakerina

...I have two jars of rhubarb-cinnamon compote made from rhubarb bought at the Union Square greenmarket, and a Bakerina-made cardamom-lime cake (that is absolutely to die for).

Seriously, while Bakerina's out on your coast, you need to try this cake. Were I not an impoverished historian I'd totally buy her a bakery just so she could make these.

Oh, thank you. Thank you to infinity plus seven. I am so very glad that you like the cake. In fact, I'm a little verklempt because that cake was going to be the signature cake for the Bakery That Almost Was. It's gratifying to hear your assessment that the cake is bakery-ready. :)

Of course I knew when I read your recipe that the compote would be magnificent, but I'm still blown away by how beautiful it is. I'm impressed that you had the patience and fortitude to put it up, and not just eat the whole batch straight out of the pan, the way I probably would have.
