Hall of Mirrors, Palace of Versailles
Explore # 329
The Hall of Mirrors (Grande Galerie) is the central gallery of the
Palace of Versailles near Paris, and is one of the most famous rooms
in the world. French prime minister Clemenceau chose the Hall of
Mirrors to sign the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I on 28
June 1919.

Maybe Clemenceau chose it, but it was signed in a railway car in a near-by forest. It was the same car that Hitler used to humiliate the French during their capitulation of 1940. The car was later destroyed.
