The Thinker, Rodin (1880)

The Thinker, Rodin (1880) by radiospike photography.
This sculpture has come to sumbolize all creative thought. Rodin first imagined The Thinker as a small, central figure near the top of 'The Gates Of Hell' (based on The Inferno, an epic poem by Dante). This bronze cast of Auguste Rodin's gravesite was made in 1925.

Is this a replica or the original in Paris at the Rodin Museum?

As I understand it, he made four bronze casts from the original which are scattered throughout the world. The original watches over his gravesite.

I have been to the one in Paris. Amazing, in person. Although, once you go to the back of the museum grounds and view The Gates of Hell in person, everything else pails in comparison. Utterly amazing!

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called The Thinker - Le Penseur [leave a thought], and we'd love to have this added to the group!
