Gramma's oatmeal cake

Gramma's oatmeal cake

I found this in an old cook book while I was looking for something else altogether. This is Gramma Porter's writing and her recipe so I scanned it. I thought you all might enjoy seeing it.
Below is the transcribed recipe. The file is large and if you aren't able to receive it I will put it on FLICKR and you can down load the image.
A special find.

Oatmeal Cake
Uses leftover oatmeal which we ate a lot of growing up in our house

1 c left over oat meal
1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup butter or margarine (oleo in the recipe)
1 cup brown sugar - we used dark brown - it used to be cheaper and sometimes came with commodities
1 cup white sugar
? eggs - you can see from the scan that this is anyone's guess It looks like 2 eggs but who knows!
1 1/3 cup flour + 3 TBS full (This may be a high altitude adjustment because we lived at above 5K feet)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda

Mix well add oats mix What I remember being done was adding the boiling water to the left over oats and stirring until you had a loose paste that was added to the other ingredients.
Bake in a greased cake pan usually an old 8 13 Pyrex glass pan at 350 for 35 minutes

Cooked Icing
1 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup brown suger
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup grated coconut - we only had the nuts and coconut around the holidays and the rest of the time it was just frosting

Pour icing on hot cake.
It was best warm as I remember and often was an after school snack.
