I love all the comments of those who support the overthrowing of an oppressive militaristic regime, like in Burma. For all of you who support democracy and freedom, don't be haphazard in regards to which countries should get the help from the world. Don't forget about IRAQ. We helped them overthrow a government like in Burma. So if you want us to help the Burmese then we have to continue to help the people of IRAQ. if we don't we are all hypocrites.

From a news clip i understand that the monks were taking an oath before begining their march to not to wield any sort of weapon except love and pity to their oppressors, which the buddhists believe the strongest weapon ever exist.

Anyone know why the fuel prices were raised? It seems to be a prevailing issue all over the world ... or are we not getting the whole story here?

Until the international community puts pressure...especially China, (which wields considerable influence over Burma) the Junta I don't think will care what we think...they will keep killing until China threatens to stop all support and put some sanctions...but with China's reputation( Tiananmen massacare) I don't think they are the least bothered about innocent people getting killed.

They risk and give their lives. The least I can do ( Henrique Vicente is right) is WALK and not buy gasoline - stop paying the insanity - protest - can you imagine if everyone stopped buying oil and its products?
If they can give their lives I can WALK .
I bought and trained a horse - I bought solar panels and a wind generator and cut off my fossil fueled power - One American in protest against paying for the insanity destroying lives and the planet giving us life - we the people have the power - unless we pay them to do this when we fill our tanks rather than walk. Global protest starts with the first person.

peterk76: the main difference between Iraq and Burma is that in one case, you actually see public protests and evidence of discomfort with their country's mode of governance. I'm all for democracy, but I'm not for pushing it down the throats of other countries whether they want it or not.
