It's been awhile....

But I've decided to return to Flickr and give it another go.

Disney: It's All In The Details (Disney's Wilderness Lodge)

Disney: It's All In The Details (Disney's Wilderness Lodge)

They always say this about Disney, ”It’s all in the details”, & it is so very true. Even the covers on their lights depict a scene. I just couldn’t resist this with the shadow and the wallpaper below. I took this at Disney's Wilderness Lodge where we got the “Concierge level”, which was AWWEEEESSSSOOOOMMMMEEEEEE. I have no idea how my mom pulled it off but we had a blast that weekend and they treated us like Queens.

I totally fell in love with this hotel. Later, we stayed at their cabins in the campground and those were also great.

I would have to say my current fave Disney hotel (because I change my mind all the time), is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. That is just magical having the animals RIGHT THERE. To be honest, there’s not too many Disney hotels that I don’t like.

Which one is your favorite & why?

NASA Shuttle Discovery Prepped for Ferry to DC

NASA Shuttle Discovery Prepped for Ferry to DC

Last week, the Shuttle Discovery was flown from Kennedy Space Center, Florida to Washington DC where it will now live in its forever home, The Smithsonian Museum. I was very lucky in that I was given the chance to see the shuttle when it was prepped for its ferry ride from Capa Canaveral, Florida to DC aboard the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, NASA 905, a modified 747. It was awe inspiring, and bittersweet, to see this glorious shuttle prepped to be sent to a new home, far away from where I had grown up watching its launches & landings at Kennedy Space Center. We were also lucky in that we got to take pictures with the astronauts who flew on Discovery’s last mission – STS-133.

This video shows the process of how Discovery was “mated” and “de-mated” to the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. It’s an interesting process to see.

Have you ever seen a launch? What are some of your favorite things about NASA and/or the idea of exploring space? I’d love to know (& please be nice – no negative comments, please).

This article from Yahoo! has some great facts about Discovery. Read on & you’ll probably learn some new things about the shuttle. I did!

It's Springtime in.......November?

It's Springtime in.......November?

This is the perfect reason why I love living in Florida (yeah, yeah, I can hear the northerners groaning now). It’s April, so a lot of people have SPRING on the brain and therefore it’s talk of blooming flowers, beautiful weather, etc.

So, I thought this picture would be wonderfully appropriate……except……it was taken in November. Yup. Winter in Florida looks like this.

I hope I’m not rubbing it in too much.

BTW – This was taken at Walt Disney World in Epcot (The American Adventure Pavilion) during their Food & Wine Festival. It’s an awesome event but it can get very crowded and very hot. We were lucky that the weather gods were kind and made it a fairly cool day, so it helped in enduring the crowds. I was a little disappointed this year with their food selection because they greatly decreased their vegetarian options.

So, I suffered in silence and filled my pie hole with more alcohol. That’s the saint that I am. Sacrificing left and right, I tell ya.
