Some people might disagree with your disagreement. They might even deploy cunning arguments, saying that anyone who insists on the distinction is a curmudgeon, or that less/fewer is a chimaera, a modern invention that smug people use because it makes them feel superior to hoi polloi. To all that I say a big fat WHAT-EVAH, and add that, like this photographer, I get a warm and righteous glow of grammatical satisfaction whenever I see a "5 items or fewer" sign.

Now to begin on Tesco and its egregious, nonsensical "Lowering prices everyday" slogan ...
