For Light Painting Competitions and Themes - February 2012 - Abstract Art.

I don't really do abstract normally, I prefer to have some kind of recognisable elements in my photos (eg human figures and trees etc.) but it's good to try something different now and again.

Single exposure, no editing/adjustments.

Started with landscape orientation and Samyang 8mm fish at f9.5, maglite flare and a couple of passes with the digital light wand. Flipped camera on side (portrait) and did a couple more passes with the wand then swapped to the Canon 10-22mm and zoomed in and out at a tree while shining a blue light at it.

For Light Painting Competitions and Themes February 2012 - 10 second challenge.

I knew going out 5 nights in a row was asking for trouble. Ideas not working/looking like 5h1t, broke the wire to my cold cathodes, (too thin, going to use super heavy duty extension cord next time) broke the solder on my orb tool and messed up my wool supply a bit when I hit it with stray sparks, twice.

No editing or adjustments.

Strangeness on the shore

Strangeness on the shore

Got very cold feet doing this, went a bit too deep and the water went over the top of my wellies. Dropped my maglite in it too, it still worked, but the switch froze. My tripod froze too. Brrr.

Pure un-edited/un-photoshopped light faffing. View on black, if you can be bothered.

My entry for Light Painting Competitions and Themes February 2012 - Colour Harmony

Another "work in progress" type shot, trying to develop an idea from a few weeks ago. This time I had the white balance on "shade" instead of "auto" and didn't bother with sparklers or wool. Not sure why it came out so blurry, I think it's partly because my lens is a bit dirty. meh.

Un-edited "as shot" raw conversion, no adjustments.
