The broken brolly is an ironic modern touch to the rest of the image, an image of such a painterly quality that, like i said to you, could hang in a museum and fool people into thinking this pic was a real age-old painted masterpiece.. with that light playing over the divine folds of your skirt, your obscured face and the mystical glowing hand..

so much to love about it - the light & shadows on the muslin(?) dress not to mention lifted leg and foot are quite outstanding

the colour of the umbrella so so right

found this on return from watching There Will Be Blood - very grim film with overbearing soundtrack - lovely to come back to this
