• This is a cottonwood tree, indigenous to Colorado. They survive long periods of drought and high winds. I sometimes see an eagle, hawk, or owl perched in them.

Lafayette, Colorado. My favorite windmill (really a well pump for water). I see this windmill on an old "almost" defunct farm when driving to and from work every weekday. The nearby barn has been converted to a home and the place is now called "Shannon Red Barn Farm". Shannon Red Barn Farm is at 1341 N. 95th St., Lafayette, CO, 80026, phone (303) 651-2180.

The site of an historical farm. The farm is used for educational purposes and for arts and crafts fairs.

These windmills are common on the American prairie.

The sky colors were nice this day so I stopped the car and snapped.

I apologize to my Flickr friends for having so many photos of this windmill.

If you are wondering, there are 18 blades.
