Foundation stones are all that is left of the "white city", a hotel, chalet, and observatory on Echo Mountain's summit, a 3200' peak just above Pasadena. It was one of the most popular attractions in southern California during the first three decades of the twentieth century and is now a historical landmark and hiking destination
