112/365 - Walking On Rocks
First attempt at a run/walk in many weeks. First time wearing these shoes. Had to cut the outing short due to chafing on one heel. The heel cups on these Nike Zoom Vomero+ 6 (some name, huh?) are somewhat higher in back than I prefer, and will take some getting used to.

You had nice weather for your run. I had to run in the rain today. :-P I haven't quite figured out if it's better to wear a jacket when running in the rain or not. It keeps the cold rain out but then I sweat inside it. I might have to get a lighter rain hat than my fishing hat, as well.
Yeah, chafing on the Achilles is not fun. Might want to use Body Glide or Vaseline on your heel (before you put your sock on) to decrease the friction. Hope the new shoes break in quickly for you.

Walking on rocks and mixing brands... what are we going to do with you?! haha Interesting that you recently switched to Nike from Adidas... I recently did the opposite.

You have a point: what if the Nike shoes are not compatible with Adidas socks?

Actually, the socks might be contributing to the chafing problem. I've had them for a while and they're becoming stretched out and baggy. I need to go through my sock drawer and discard the loose-fitting running socks.

It might be a case of incompatability, the chaffing! And your sock drawer sounds like mine, in need of a go through!

Haha! Well, now I know I'm not the only one who keeps socks well past their prime. I don't run in those socks, though. I'm too prone to blisters to do that. I either wear them to the gym when I'm weight training or I let them reside in my sock drawer for a very, very long time.
After trying out a number of different sets of running shoes, I finally settled on a pair of Brooks Glycerin 9 shoes. That reminds me, I don't think I ever took a photo of them.

Well, maybe at exploding my wallet. When I realized that this is the shoe for me, I went out and bought a second pair, because I know they'll change the design after a bit as they always do. I like the cushioning on these. I had to buy them a size-and-a-half larger than my regular shoe size, though, to give my toes some room. Because of that, I have to do a butterfly tie to keep my heels from slipping.

Any improvement at the heel with these as they break in?

I went 10k, alternating between walking and slow jogging. I carefully selected the socks I wore today for snug fit and smooth surface, and made sure the shoes were laced up evenly. Unlike the first run, this time the heel did not slip or abrade. I was still aware of the right heel pocket by the end of the run. I'm hoping the heel will stretch, soften, or better conform to the contours of my foot over time.
Overall, I'm still more partial to the fit of my previous Adidas shoes than I am to either of my Nike shoes.

Do you like the Lunarglides better than this pair?
Oddly enough, I like Nike shoes for activities other than running.

I probably wouldn't go more than 10K in these, then, until they break in more. You're still risking blisters.
Awesome on the 10K, though! I haven't had time to run all week, unfortunately, and probably won't until two weeks from now for the 5K run in N.C.
