Blue Jay (I)

This was taken with my new Canon PowerShot S3 IS through my picture window. I used to have to stand in the yard about a foot from the bird feeder to get this kind of shot and it still wouldn't be this sharp.

According to my Smithsonian Handbook, Birds of New England, this is a Blue Jay. Who knew they weren't totally blue?

Wow! I've seen several with purple along their backs or some with just a little at the top of the breast, but, never one with purple on the face or belly.
