On 6 June 194, thousands of Allied troops begun landing on the beaches of Normandy in northern France at the start of a major offensive against the Germans during World War 2. The assault took place at Sword Beach (top photo), Juno Beach, Gold Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Utah Beach and the most famous Omaha Beach, all along the french coastline between Le Havre and Cherbourg.
5,000 out of 50,000 men died on Omaha Beach on the D Day. Nowdays, 9,387 US soldiers graves are grouped together at the American Cemetery on top of Omaha beach (bottom photo). Always remember...

Very first shot with the Nikkor AF-S 16-85 ED VR lens at Canary Wharf. I really like the 16mm end for perspective photos like this. This mid-range zoom is very versatile and the VR is very efficient in low light!
