A Town Called NO? by Professor Bop

A Town Called NO?

On Tuesday, November 10 the voters of Wilmington, Vermont are expected to vote on whether or not to take down and remove the pergola park shown at left which was recently built in the center of town to replace a burnt down building. Angry opponents of the pergola say that it doesn't fit the character of a New England town and should be completely dismantled. People coming through the area overwhelmingly love it!

But notice the huge Rite Aid sign that was also recently erected in the same town, just up the road from the pergola. There has been no vocal opposition to it. Are we to believe that it represents the character of small town New England? Hmmmm ... makes you wonder what the real reason for the opposition to the pergola might be.

The question is whether the voters of Wilmington are going to reject an aesthetically pleasing, albeit different and unique, structure (the pergola) while silently affirming this obtrusive and ugly Rite Aid sign (think one dimensional Walmart culture) at the same time.

Well Wilmington ... will you become the town called NO?

Jacksonville, Vermont by Professor Bop

Jacksonville, Vermont

Every so often I dabble in textures ... but only when I think that the subject warrants the treatment. At times I tire of the many textured photos so I try to use the technique sparingly myself and with a degree of sensitivity, always attempting to keep the material varied. Hopefully I've achieved that here .... but I'm still learning. Thanks to all for your kind comments, faves, advice and even just stopping by to have a look.

I confess that on this photo I simply drew a blank attempting to come up with a witty title so I just named it as it is.

Don't Mess With Mr. T by Professor Bop

Don't Mess With Mr. T

Catch this one on YouTube ... Don't Mess With Mr. T by Stanley Turrentine.

This is a very tiny ceramic figure found at the base of a bonsai tree ... Life in the miniature world can be most fascinating.

The music is a popular jazz piece by the late tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine.
