Finally getting back to fulfilling my new year resolution on getting fitter. Gone are the days when all I was interested in was size and lifting heavy, heavy and heavy. No deadlifts or squats this time. No ripping underpants under the strain.

Gonna be mainly bodyweight exercises, mixed with some weights - focussing on stamina over brute strength. Will chuck in a few sessions of yoga slowly as well so I can maintain flexibility. Guess my evenings will be busier from now on!

Let's hope it makes me live longer..

...as long as I can keep it up. :)

One rock climbing session in nearly 8 weeks is bad. Really bad. Really lazy.

That one session I did manage to fit in last month wasn't exactly smooth sailing. Realising I had lost my climbing shoes was a disappointment...and then having my mate wait for 1hr and hour while I had fitting session for my new pair wasn't the best start to our day either. But he was cool about it....although I had to endure an hour and half of him making fun of my predicament.

The upside was that I ended up with a fantastic pair of new shoes, albeit draining my wallet of £80. They are much softer than the previous pair, meaning that I can now feel footholds much better. Trade off being that they are less supportive, but I guess that means I'm forced to build up foot strength!

All in all, I'm hoping I can avoid the situation depicted in this week's pic...even though falling is part and parcel of climbing.

Sometimes it's even fun to fall from a height.

...Wetting yourself just prior to and during the fall isn't. :D
