@angela.aveta: it was the stage lighting... bleeding into the audience just a bit. i need to remember this angle for that venue. i really like it, especially when the crowd is really into the show.

ya gotta check it out sometime if you make it out to the GAMH. it's the stairs near the entrance... of 24 mm, i was going light that night but being up there made me wish i had my 10-22 mm.

there's a similar angle at The Fillmore but you have to do more work to get up "there" and there are a bunch of speakers in the way of the band so it's not really that great for this angle from behind the band.

one thing i saw a guy do at the Cafe du Nord one night was to put his camaera on a monopod and hold the camera way up higher to get interesting angles of the band... i guess first i'll need a monopod.

i had a great time. i'm always a little detached when i'm photographing which is sad.. but you can't help but get into it when all of them are just thrashing their hair all over the place... plus their lyrics are beautiful.
