Another session of playing around with the Old Master's Palatte.

(Almost) a House Sparrow. Paired with one of my favourite poems for this time of year.

Thanks! It really worked. I couldn't go for total authenticity, birdwise, but as a piece it all came together. I think I'm going to frame this one and hang it for the season so I can be reminded of its sentiment.

Poppins - I love, love, love this! I don't know how I missed it earlier this week. It's wonderful. The palette so works for you... and the bird... ahhh, it steals my heart! (Did you do this from looking at a bird, a photo, or what? I always ask about that when I see bird paintings.)

Amy, I used an illustration in my bird ID book. I've been watching these guys for months at the feeder, really trying to get a sense of them. But I knew I'd need something that would stay put. They're so active that I can barely photograph them!
