Fantastic lighting to capture the texture of
their skin. Really like this photo.

Great textures and tones. You've cropped
tight at the top and the bottom, and I might
try to crop it a little at the sides, but not
too much.

The textures are lovely, as is the sense of
movement and the mother's concern for the
calf that comes out of the composition - The
tight crop helps too, otherwise the elephants
could get lost in the background - lovely

You did indeed get the texture of the skin.
That suggested crop might make it even
better. (from the 1on1 group)

nicely captured, is a bit tight top and
bottom i agree, the crop suggested would be
better with some room in front of the
elephants to move into....

I like how it almost looks fabricated (the
photo). In the days before Photoshop, they
used to cut out parts of one photo (with a
knife) and stick it into another. Looking at
the black line around the mother's body
(especially around the top) really reminded
me of that.
All in all, I think it's an awesome photo.

Hey thanks all. For the compliments, and also
the suggestions. I think people
(scribeoflight was the first, i think) are
right about the cropping, so I'm going to
crop as suggested, and 'replace' it.
So if you look at it after this post, its a
slightly different image.(and the notes have
been deleted!)
Again, thanks!

very nice shot, can't really tell without a
bigger size, but there appears to be a dark
outline around the adult

Amazing animals, the thin dark border line on
the adult is a distraction.

Pardon me, and I do respect your view, but am
mystified by this blackline you see. yes,
there is a ridge of dark, prickly fur, very
thin, on the mother elephant's back. if you
look closely its not around the elephant at
all, but on the ridges of her back. i don't
see a black line by her raised foot, for
example.
so i am confused. :)

My apologies, but it did appear to be a thin
black line, and I did find that curious! It
is difficult to see the details on a photo of
this size, if only there were a larger size
one could have seen and judged this better.

Nice subject, but the compo lacks something.
Maybe some space over the bigger one?
I've been with no internet and I will be
without until 3rd of january, sorry if I
don't comment until then.

Indyblue, and everyone else: I'm sorry,
really am; I thought I had enabled the all
sizes setting. I was confused about how it
worked. But it is set, I checked. so you can
look at a larger size. Really, I'm sorry
about that.

I love the photo and I like the B&W. Your
scanner may need a cleaning, if that is what
the white scratches are from, though.

The line is her fur/hair..interesting capture
too, quite detailed. I never noticed that
before. Perfectly framed. It couldn't be
better. A wonderful testament to the family
orientation of these beautiful beasts.
