just hung homemade chalkboard, for timelining and listing projects. it is clean because i have yet to buy chalk.
michael jackson madonna and child, ink on paper, someday to be redone in oils (probably).
iron. my illustration instructor didn't care for it.
some photobooth and polaroid photos that make me happy.
eiffel tower in ink on vellum, with a drippy watercolor background.
various reference books for language (english and french), flash and html, and art history texts.
blank cds, burnt cds, software discs, etc.
strung clothespins for recent shit, works in progress, reference images, and a few important to-do items (like forms for renewing my driver's license).
some guy with a gun, which i'm using as reference for the piece that's resting on my stool.
there's that guy with the gun again. he's on the stool because the board warped and won't stay on my drafting table.
need to measure or cut something? i have various steel and plastic measuring sticks, t-squares, steel triangle, and a measuring tape for seamstresses.
business cards and blank checks.
aside from the alarm clock, this is a bunch of crap that had no other home (like plastic cups and catnip).
sketchbooks, notebooks, and files for current projects.
500gb firewire western digital external hard drive
printer paper and envelopes.
shitty printer and scanner on the window sill.
litterbox (the kitty has to poop somewhere!)
totebag holding my current knit/crochet project.
all my supplies for wet/dry media (paints, graphite, charcoals, inks). i also have a lot of adhesives, and boxes of photos and a pile of magazines to use for collage and/or reference, some old linoleum blocks i made during a printmaking phase. large paper and an easel in the hallway.
this shelf has office supples (pens paperclips and post-its). it also has a shoebox full of paperwork i'm too lazy to go through. also has a bin full of cords and chargers for various peripherals (ipod, camera, spare firewire and usb cords, etc).
brita pitcher: stay hydrated!
"you're boring. i'm going to take a nap."
this tortoiseshell lucite cart has stuff like lotions, moisturizers, and nail files. on top of it is where i charge my phone and ipod and other peripherals.
vintage sansui headphones.
flat panel gets turned to face different parts of the room, depending on if i am working or if i am watching a movie in bed or on the sofa.
vintage movie poster for "Take Her, She's Mine", starring sandra dee and jimmy stewart.
the left speaker for the set of shitty speakers i got free through work five years ago. the right speaker is on the other side of the sofa (out of frame) and the bass is underneath and behind the sofa.
apple remote, which i hardly use. i actually just bring the bluetooth mighty mouse, and often the keyboard, across the room with me.
these hand-mounted shelves are going to come down pretty soon, and i'm going to trim and hang them above the small yellow bookcase on my desk in the corner.
light-up jesus picture with a burnt out bulb.

i'm a full-time illustration student in brooklyn, and i enjoy an active social life. when i was looking for a studio, it had to accommodate work areas for digital, wet, and dry media. it also had to have room to entertain and sleep, and be close to civilization. i found a live/work loftshare in williamsburg, which is ideally located atop of the G train to school and the L train into lower manhattan. at 14'x14' with 10' ceilings, the space is just under 200 sq.ft., and is divided almost equally in half between my live and work areas. i've spared you the view of the "wardrobe/books/dvd storage" part of the room.

makes me jealous.

that jesus picture was left behind by the
previous tenant, and was here when i moved
in. the lightbulb burned out and i gave it
to one of my loftmates.
