A Delicate Moonrise

A Delicate Moonrise

An unlikely jewel in an unlikely setting. When I got here I did not have any plan to get this shot. I was totally into getting the frame of a swelling sea lashing the rock. As soon as I have seen the moon rise I took a deep breath and swung my camera around to capture this shot. The light was fast changing and fog has started to roll into the hills. I had to grab my brand new 4 stop GND to get the detail from the foreground. Shot a series of shots at various focal length. This frame paints the moon as white spot with a fast darkening sky in the back. I hope you enjoy the mood set here.

I tried this shot earlier in the evening and came up with this and it has captured some detail on the moon.

The Leap

The Leap

Shot at 14 Mile scenic drive at Monterey. This a crop, shot using 70-200mm VR lens. I wish I had a lens that can do 600mm :).

Lets Do The Swirl

Lets Do The Swirl

As the sun goes down the waves get bigger in size and lash against the rocks with ever more force. Watching the sea water swirl around the small rock was fun.
A 3 second shot at the right moment captures the swirl effect around the rock.

I attempted another shot to capture the rough sea as much as possible and keep the drama in the foreground. You can see it here. Which one do you like the most?.
