52 Beers Group, Week 44: Black Butte XXI
![]() Beer: Black Butte XXI
Brewery: Deschutes Brewing, OR Notes: Big on coffee. Not overpowering, but prominent. Everything underneath seems very well balanced: alcohol, chocolate, heavily roasted grains, malt sweetness, mild woodiness, with just a slight hop bitterness. Very sticky on the lips. As it warms, there's a little more bourbon coming through but it's pretty slight. Overall, excellent beer. Severely excellent. Several more in the basement to check out throughout the year. I can only imagine this beer eeking toward perfection as it ages. Commentsportlandbeer.org

Amen, Matt. Same here. Not exactly the best weather for this brew, but I will still drink it. Did you go down to their b-day party? $2.10 snifters of this beauty!
