One of the local stores has an ancient soviet junk cam that they are asking far too much for.
But I'm tempted because it comes with a flash like this!!

I recently went to a Harold Cazneaux exhibition, and he used light and shadow in a similar way. A nice reminder that good still life photography does not alway have to involve fancy lighting setups.

Finally got mine and started shooting with her, first frames are online now.
Exactly the same model but manufactured in France so the "Hawkeye" was dropped from the name in favour of "Flash"

The shadow pattern works very well. I know nothing about these things, does it still work? And what kind of film does it use? Assuming that it isn't digital :-D ...

This is an excellent shot, both for composition and superb lighting.

Great camera- one of my favourite box cameras. I recommend flipping the lens- it gives a similar feel to a lensbaby, but at a fraction of the price. I've never tried using one with a flash, though. I expect the bulbs must be difficult to get hold of...

(Seen in the 'b-square' group camera thread).
