The Ron Resch paperfold in the background is
held on by the natural shape the paper curves
to and the poly, purely by elbow-crease.
This is Robo'd!
I love it - it sings to me in a most
delightful tuneful grunting sort of way. I
haven't built up the nerve to try the
ingenious justifications and registrations
that you do yet so this is scored all on one
side and lovingly coaxed....

oh oh oh Polly and the Robo!!!! I am so
excited, I could almost squeak!
you are so right about the singing robo,
especially when it makes curves... and the
registration thing works very well, makes
folding the plastic a whole lot easier.
Absolutely not - I will always defer to your
Robo Kingship
I am just a lucky one to be given a leg-up
by experts...

it's the CraftROBO, made by Graphtec - a
computer controlled cutting device. Graphtec
makes big vinyl cutters and other commercial
equipment, but they also have this handy
little model that is about the size of an
inkjet printer. It's not heavily marketed and
totally underappreciated :)
you can output directly from Illustrator
with their plugin, so it's pretty quick to
just slice up anything you want whenever you
feel like it!

I'm hyperventilating and barely able to
type....ARMBANDS! If I've got armbands on in
the studio, you know I mean business...if I'm
out of the studio w/ armbands...well,
watchout! Tessellated in sumptuous forms?
I'm on the floor w/ envy!
And now all this talk of ROBO
cutters....I've known of them but resisted.
Is resistance truly futile?
Thank you for this terrific triple morning
jolt.

Hehe
Well the armband thing was really just
chance - he was wearing his armband anyway as
a swatch - to test the scale of the fold
against a body and I was only wearing the
other armband as best means to get the fold
to stay - a little elbow-crease pressure from
the sides gives it a hand to increase its
3D-ness. Left to its own devices it flattens
to a very low relief.
But maybe we've collaborated on a new craze
. Your unswerving enthusiasm has caused me to
put one on while I visit the library.
and yes - Resist the Robo at your
peril.....

This is really something! I love them both. How are you attaching the ends together...especially on the poly, Polly?
I want to ROBO it.
