I dropped my camera

I dropped my camera by pointnshoot.
It fell out of the car when I opened the back door. It is a Canon EF 24-70 f2.8L on a Canon EOS 1D 4mp DSLR. Except for the destroyed 77mm Hoya HMC SUPER UV filter, camera and lens works fine.

I feel your pain. That's one lens of mine that I wouldn't want to see broken (but it looks like only the filter was hurt?)

I can only image your initial terror.

"...Except for the destroyed 77mm Hoya HMC SUPER UV filter, camera and lens works fine."
I quess that's a good argument for professional equipment & the use of filters.

Ouch! Good thing you had the filter on. Where was your hood?!!!

pointnshoot  Pro User  says:

My hood was in the camera bag. It makes a large and heavy lens even larger. But you are right, it would have given more protection.

I'm crushed.
I did the same thing last night.
Looks like we have the same lens and the same UV Filter so I am hoping my glass is still alive!!! Keeping fingers crossed.

I flinched when I saw this pic, as if I'd seen someone fall and hurt themselves.
Nonetheless glad to hear the lens and camera were fine, and made a full recovery.

needs tags of: horror, fear, despair, followed by elation and joy :-)

Just wondering, but why don't you have like a camera bag to keep your camera in, or at least a secure place for that treasure? :/

I have a camera bag for my lenses. I keep the camera out so I can use it. I try to be more careful now.

seems like every filter/lens broken cracks like a triangle.
my filter broke once when a large cable connected to strobes was on the table, behind the camera, and for some reason the cable attached to me, so the entire cable whipped off the table, crashing my n80 straight into the floor. humbug!
the filter broke, and I had to reload my film, but no biggie after that. phew.

I dropped my Nikon down a flight of stairs, hitting all 12 wooden steps and landing on concrete at the bottom. Nothing but a minor scratch as damage. The camera works fine. Buy a Nikon I guess!
