grandma![]() ![]() Today is her birthday. She died on january 13th (my grandfather's bday, her husband), 2007. She was 95. Originally born in Peterhead, Scotland, she came to the US just after she married my grandfather Bill (who died before I was born). I have a book of poems I wrote based on her life, which has yet to see the public eye. I got a grant to live with her for a month and write those poems. It was an awesome, life-changing experience, and it bonded me to her in a way that I can't explain. She loved poetry (and could still recite poems from memory, even just before she died), and was very happy to have, as she said it "a poet in the family." I always think of her when I have a concert, and miss her being in the audience. I miss her. I still feel her presence though. She's still with me.
